Xocai Activ – a healthy chocolate/acai beverage

Nov 25

xocai activ chocolate acai beverageXocai Activ sounds like an interesting beverage with a unique mix of cacao and berries. Only 90 calories per 3 ounces is respectable, considering you mix those 3 ounces with 10 ounces of water before you drink the final product.  Compare this to your typical chocolate milk at 220 calories per 8 ounces the calorie counters out there will be delighted to give this alternative a try. Check out the rest of the nutritional information of Xoçai Activ, and below is a rundown of the product benefits:

Xocai Activ combines the wonderful flavors of unprocessed cacao, acai berries, blueberries and concord grapes, leaving you with a lasting, “dark-chocolate” taste.  The antioxidant content or the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) Value of Xocai Activ is similar to the present Xocai Beverage and Nuggets.  However, the approach of Xocai Activ is slightly different clearly focusing on the “All-Natural” consumer. Activ has been formulated with no added colors, no artificial flavors, and no preservatives!  Xocai Activ is ideal for the “PURIST”, who wants nothing but the raw, high-antioxidant ingredients or for the “ENERGETIC”, who wants nothing holding them back in life!

The Biggest Looser homes in on the acai berry

Nov 23

Reading through The Biggest Looser Forums today I found a great article by Don about some of the health benefits of the acai berry. The article explains some of the acai berry products users, including MonaVie and the Extreme Acai Berry supplement we’ve written about before. It sounds like the supplement helped muster some more energy when working out, but if you choose to try this option, be careful of the fine print. The initial bottle may be cheap, but your subsequent automatic credit card charges won’t be.

MonaVie Pulse

Nov 13

MonaVie Pulse Functional BeverageMonaVie Pulse announced their new product Pulse back in September. The claim is that the new “functional” beverage was scientifically formulated to support the cardiovascular system and to help with cholesterol levels.

“MonaVie is pleased to introduce the first açai beverage to address the demand for foods delivering heart beneficial ingredients, as consumer concerns over heart related issues continue to increase,” says Vice President of Product Management, Jeff Graham. “What better timing than during National Cholesterol Education Month to introduce MonaVie Pulse and educate our distributor workforce on heart healthy habits which are a pivotal part of MonaVie’s health and wellness mission. A daily serving of MonaVie Pulse gives you 0.8 grams per day of plant sterols, delivering the benefits you need to potentially impact the health of your heart,” says Graham.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, foods containing at least 0.4 grams per serving of plant sterols, eaten twice daily with meals for a daily total intake of at least 0.8 grams and as a part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.

I’m not an active MonaVIe distributor, but I am signed up. I’ve tried the product, but I don’t drink it daily as recommended by MonaVie. The MonaVie Active beverage I first tried definitely had a postive impact on my energy levels, and I would definitely be interested in trying the new product. What frustrates me is because MonaVie is supporting by a multi-level marketing system, the product is immediately disregarded by many. Yes, it’s probably the most expensive acai product I’ve tried, but it also had the most definite result for me as well. Relying on independant distributors to market you product doesn’t always work well. I know a handful of active distributors, but I hadn’t even heard of this new MonaVie Pulse product until this week, long after the product was released.

Regardless, has anyone tried this product that can comment on taste or any potential benefits?

Acai berry – a secret to Brazilian beauty

Nov 12

healthy skin acai berryBrazil has a reputation around the world for it’s beautiful people. The beaches, the night life and the tanned, fit bodies that go along with it. It’s a destination for young and old, whether you’re there to relax or party, there’s something for everyone. It’s common knowledge among Brazilian’s that fatty acids from nuts and berries are the key to healthy looking skin and shiny hair. Oils from babassu and muru muru nuts can already be found on the shelves in drug stores across North America. But there’s one ingredient that stands above them all – the acai berry.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone stats that the açaí berry provides “a quality protein and healthy fat necessary to keep skin supple and wrinkle-free, as well as antioxidants that help combat premature aging.”

Teavana releases 28 new tea flavors

Nov 05

Teavana releases new acai tea flavorTeavana’s goal according to their website is to be the heaven of tea and offer their customers the healthy lifestyle and unique tastes of tea.  Teavana only selects teas with powerful flavors and respectable health benefits. Teavana currently operates over 80 locations across the United States. As stated by their press release late last week…

The seven new white teas will become instant classics and have special value. White tea is popular because it contains the highest amount of antioxidants and very little caffeine. Imperial Açaí Blueberry pairs white tea with “Superfoods” like blueberries and natural Açaí, it becomes a delicious – and an even healthier cup of tea. For those who prefer a spicier blend, Teavana’s White Ayurvedic Chai includes white and green teas mixed with bruised peppers, cinnamon, and lemongrass. It has a healthy kick that will excite taste buds. Peach Momotaro is a hand-tied artisan blooming tea which has a wonderful peach flavor, and actually blooms into a beautiful flower as it steeps. Finally, delicate hand-rolled white tea pearls and tropical fruit bits are combined in the rare and flavorful Frutto Bianco Pearls.

I do look forward to trying this blueberry, acai flavor tea. Tetley has a mango passionfruit acai tea, which was just too…mixed for my taste.
